Basic plot - Buffy meets Final Destination. This is the second part, make sure you read the other one first. Buffy and Willow get torn apart over Alex, and nearly lose a life in the process. Buffy and Alex discover deaths design for them all.

Willow tried to smile, but it was impossible. “You met up with Alex?” She asked between gritted teeth. “After he said no to me?”

“Will, that isn’t the point. He-” Buffy tried to get the whole story out again, Willow wasn’t going to let her.

“Of course it’s the point! Buffy you know I like him! You’re my best friend!”

Buffy took a breath, she was fed up now. “Okay, I’ll tell you what you want to hear then, shall I? ‘Cause you obviously don’t want to hear the truth!” She sat down on the edge of the bed. “I…love Alex!” She declared, it was meant to be a lie, although she wasn’t that sure if it was much of a lie.

Willow just stared at her in silence.

“That was a lie, Will.” Buffy whispered.

Willow stared a little longer then got up from the chair and ran out of the room. Buffy sighed deeply. It was the morning after she’d met up with Alex now, she’d ended up taking a trip to the mortuary with him and Clear, and had been out until at least two am. Willow wasn’t too pleased about it, the being with Alex part; Buffy hadn’t even managed to tell her about Tod.

Buffy frowned and grabbed the phone; she quickly dialled Alex’s number. On the first ring he picked up. “Buffy?”

She raised an eyebrow. “Hey, waiting for me to call or something?”

“Something like that.” He admitted quietly. “Do you want to go get coffee? I’m meeting Clear at the Coffee Beanery in an hour, we could walk there together.”

Buffy tried not to laugh. “Is this someway of asking me on a casual date?”

“No…do you?”

“Sure, I’ll be at your house in ten.” She hung the phone up, and then reached for her case, she wanted to look good even if it wasn’t a date. She tipped the case upside down on the bed and started looking through the pile of clothes for something decent.

“Going on a date or something Buffy?” Cordelia suddenly asked from behind her. “Cause you can borrow something of mine if you want.”

Buffy nearly choked, Cordy never let anyone borrow her clothes, never. “Borrow?”

Cordy sat down on the edge of the bed. “How long have you got to get ready? I have this cute pink number that might look cute on you.” She smiled softly. “But you have to talk to Carter for me if you see him.”

“I knew there was some sort of catch.” Buffy said and turned to look at her. “I’ll talk to him for you…so, where’s this dress? I only have ten minutes.”

Cordy leant down and pulled out one of her many cases from under the bed, she quickly unzipped it and took out the dress, it was pale pink, and had a row of pink pearly beads around the hem. “Take good care of it, okay.”

“Yeah, sure.” Buffy whispered and snatched it off her.

Buffy took a long, steady, deep breath and closed her eyes; any moment now she would knock the door, she’d been stood there five minutes already. She opened her eyes and glanced down at herself. * Oh God! * There was a wrinkle in her dress, she quickly smoothed it out with the palm of her hand and straightened her jacket out. Then clearing her throat, she knocked on the door.

Glancing around at the garden she took another deep breath, then the door opened. She turned and looked back to the door.

Alex smiled at her. “Hey, Buffy.”

* Okay, you’re not going to faint. * She told herself, and then smiled back at him in what she hoped was a sexy way. “Hi, sorry I’m late, it took me longer than I thought to get here.”

“It’s okay.” Alex replied as he stepped out onto the path, and shut the door behind him. “Let’s get going then.”

“Yeah.” Buffy whispered, and hugged herself tightly. The dress had been a bad idea it was quite cold out. “How are you feeling now?” She asked quickly.

“Better actually.” He laughed. “I’m not really sure why though, I saw my friend dead! Doesn’t really rate high on the better chart.”

“No.” She answered, that was all she could think to say, for once she was stuck for words. “It doesn’t.”

Alex frowned then grabbed her arm and spun her to face him. “Are you okay? You’re being seriously quiet.”

Buffy glanced down at her hands. “I’m fine…” She muttered. “…It’s just that…” She trailed off and looked him in the eyes.

“What, Buffy? Tell me.” Alex looked really concerned. “Has something happened?”

“No, nothings happened…it’s just that Willow’s mad at me for meeting you yesterday, I feel really bad.”

“Why’s Willow mad?”

Buffy bit her lip. “Because you didn’t want to meet her, and then you met me…and I shouldn’t have really met you because I’m her friend and she likes you but she thinks I like you too…” She took a deep breath. “…I told her I didn’t like you but she wouldn’t listen so I told her I was in love with you…and then she walked out. And of course stupid me calls you up because I do really like…you…”

“Oh.” Was all that Alex said.

Buffy buried her head in her hands. “I feel really stupid now.”

“Don’t feel stupid…it’s good you admitted it.”

“It is?”

Willow strolled along the edge of the path towards the Coffee Beanery she was in need of a strong cup of coffee; full of sugar. Glancing up she saw the building just ahead, she also saw Clear sat outside. She crossed the intersection and sat herself in a chair beside Clear. “Hey.”

Clear looked up at her. “Oh, hi…what are you doing here?”

“Walking, decided I needed a drink, that’s about it.” Willow smiled then stood back up again. “I’ll just get a coffee, want anything?”

Clear shook her head then went back to studying her nails. Willow slowly walked off and stepped into the shop, it was unusually quiet. She shrugged it off and ordered herself a cappuccino and a chocolate doughnut.

Walking back outside with her purchases she noticed Buffy and Alex walking towards the shop, * oh, that’s just great! * She sighed heavily then sat back down next to Clear. “Are you meeting Alex?” She asked Clear quickly before he reached the table. “‘Cause he’s here.”

Clear looked up suddenly smiling brightly, and waved at him. “Hey, over here.” Then she noticed Buffy, her smile quickly turned upside-down.

“Will!” Buffy squealed as she reached the table. “Thank God you’re here, I was worried.”

Willow rolled her eyes. “Clear, you can have my doughnut…I just remembered something I got to do.  Bye, Alex.”

Buffy frowned. “Will, we can work this-”

“Move!” Alex suddenly demanded.

“What?” Willow asked shakily.

“Move!” He cried again but this time he dived at her just as a lorry came hurtling down the road. It missed her by centimeters.

Buffy let out a scream, Clear jumped up from the table, the cups fell and smashed against the pavement.

Willow stared at the lorry in the distance. “Wh-what happened?” She asked shakily.

“Alex just saved your butt, that’s what.” Clear whispered, then looked at Alex who was getting up from the ground. “How did you know?”

He just looked shocked. “I…don’t know…”

Buffy quickly grabbed hold of her friend and hugged her tightly. “Oh, god! You nearly died.” She whispered as the tears began.

About twenty minutes later they were all sat around the table drinking coffee and feeling a little better, Willow was still shaking though, Buffy just kept her arm around her friend. No one knew what to say now.

A sudden screech of a car tire caught everyone’s attention they all turned to see Carter marching over from his car, which was now in the middle of the street, Terry following him, obviously trying to get him to go back to the car.

“Oh, great.” Alex muttered.

“Baby, come on...not now.” Terry whispered grabbing at Carter’s arm; he didn’t listen to her…so much for love. “Carter…”

“Hey, Browning. Here about Ms. Lewton? She’s moving.” Carter shot him a deadly look. “Guess who’s fault that is?”

“This isn’t Alex’s fault, Carter.” Clear shot back.

“Sure it is!” He argued and grabbed Alex’s arm, Alex glared at him then got up out of his seat.

“Alex…” Buffy whispered.

Carter stared at Buffy a moment. “Oh, look it’s the girls who felt sorry for you on the plane! Got yourself a fan club now, Browning?”

“Carter, you’re going to have to-” Alex started.

“Alex, leave it.” Buffy quickly interrupted. “He’s not worth it.”

Carter stared at Buffy again, then laughed. “Need a fucking girl to fight your battles? That’s pathetic!”

“Fuck you!” Alex shouted then moved to punch him in the face, Buffy grabbed his arm quickly.

“Shut up! All of you!” Terry suddenly screamed, everyone turned and stared at her. “They died! We lived! Get over it! I won't let that plane crash be the most important thing in my life.” She took a breath and looked at carter. “I'm moving on, Carter, and if you're gonna waste your life beating the shit out of Alex every time you see him…” She slowly walked backwards to the road in order to escape. “…Then you can just drop fucking dead!”

Terry took one last step backwards onto the road and one last glance at Carter. Buffy was about to say something to her to try and help when a bus ploughed straight over her. Buffy heard Willow scream behind her as they were all splattered with blood…Terry’s blood. She held onto Alex’s arm tighter.

Buffy settled herself on Alex’s bed and took the glass of him. “Thanks.” She looked down into the glass and at the fizzing Alka Seltzer tablets at the bottom then took a gulp. Alex sat down on his computer chair at his desk and drank the remains of his glass. “I’m sorry I’m not saying much…” She said quietly.

“It’s okay…I don’t really know what to say either.” He looked down at the floor then glanced up at his television as something caught his attention.

“The National Transportation Safety Board has a new theory tonight on the possible cause of Euro-Air Flight 180...” Alex quickly turned the TV up. “Deterioration of silicon insulation on an electrical connector to the scavenger pump may have leaked combustible fluids.” A graphical representation of the plane came up on screen, Buffy studied it carefully. “A spark in the fuel switch...” The graphic zoomed into the area on the rear right side.

“That’s Tod’s seat.” Alex whispered.

“It is?” Buffy asked him leaning in closer to the screen, Alex nodded.

The reporter on the television continued. “... May have ignited the fuel line. And proceeded to the fuel pump.” A red line moved its way across from Tod’s seat and through the plane until it reached the fuel pump, that exploded, and then the explosion made its way back across to the rear of the plane.

Buffy watched as Alex drew a line across a map of where everyone had been sitting, a few moments later he dropped his pencil to the desk. “Okay…” His eyes clouded over with worry.

“Alex, what’s wrong? Okay, what?” Buffy moved closer to him and looked down at the diagram, she traced the line with her finger and whispered the names as she reached them. “Tod…Willow…Terry-”

“The path of the explosion.” He interrupted her. “That’s death design.”

Buffy looked at him. “I wasn’t sure if you believed what the mortician was saying or not…” She said. “But now I know…it wasn’t just me.”

Alex stared at Willow’s name a second. “It skipped Willow…I saved her, and it skipped her…completely.”

“So, who’s next?” Buffy asked and traced her finger along the line, then gasped as she saw the name. “Cordy…”

To be continued...
