Basic plot - I'm not really sure on a plot (but it's gonna be quite short), this fic is just gonna sorta happen. I decided to write a fic following the lyrics to Steps' 'Summer of Love' basically because it's a great song, it's really summery and I'd just bought it. So there you go, enjoy.
* This is the summer of love, tonight the fiesta will come, it's the summer of love. *The hazy evening sun bathed the glistening swimming pool and the surrounding courtyard with pink light. And the tiny silver stars began to poke through the orange sky.
Inside the party was in full swing, music with summer vibes echoed out into the courtyard. The feeling of Spain was definitely there. Outside torches hung on either side of the pool, little trails of yellow light shone from the lattice coverings of them.
Willow walked along the edge of the pool her flower print dress barely touching the white marble beneath her feet. She heard footsteps behind her but ignored them.
* Tonight we live la vida loca, yes we'll have the time of our lives.
A fiesta we'll always remember, tonight we will taste paradise. *The music from inside shifted to a summery ballad, and each high note the singer hit echoed around Willow. She felt herself beginning to sway to the music, she closed her eyes and drifted to a place where she was happy.
She was happy when she was with Xander but he hadn't come to the party, she missed him as a matter of fact, she'd been lonely ever since she had arrived.
Her thoughts were lost as she felt someone come up behind her and place their hands on her hips. Still swaying with the music, the person swayed with her. She could feel their breath on the back of her neck, it made her tingle inside.
* Life is sweet and we treasure each moment. Moving closely with me as we sway.
For tonight we forget our tomorrow, it's time for the music to play. *Turning sharply Willow came face-to-face with a pair of eyes that made her melt, she stared, she couldn't help it. She knew who it was, she could recognize those eyes anywhere. He took her hands and placed them around his neck.
They continued to sway to the music as he tightened his grip around her waist. For a moment Willow felt herself slip off into her little world again she decided against it and stayed in the one she was in, it was nice there.
"I thought you weren't going to come tonight." Willow whispered as her heart began to beat harder. "I was missing you."
"Well, I was thinking a lot, I didn't realize the time. And as I promised I thought I'd better make at least a tiny appearance." He smiled at her.
* The temperature's rising, you search the horizon, and there's not a cloud in the sky. *
"I have something to tell you, Will." Xander's smile fell a little. "I don't know what to say, which is funny I had a whole twenty minute speech planned out at home, my notes blew away on the way here. So I'll just say what comes to me."
"Okay, what do you want to tell me?" Willow knew it couldn't be bad, after all he had managed a laugh during that babbling. But then again babbling meant nerves so immediately Willow had became nervous too.
"Here goes then, me trying to be grown up." Xander laughed again then stepped back from their embrace, standing a little uneasily he rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet. "I've been thinking a lot as I said..."
* So dance- it's the summer of love tonight the fiesta will come.
One hundred degrees in the shade of the trees one more time. *"...And mostly that thinking has involved you, well actually all of it's been about you. Your gorgeous green eyes, your flaming red hair." Staring at her he added. "All of you."
Willow felt herself loosing control within, her heart was beating so loudly she was sure Xander would be able to hear it, her cheeks were getting hotter in fact her whole body was, probably just the weather. Yeah, right, of course.
"I guess what I'm saying is I wanna be with you in a more than friends way, I wanna feel your lips against mine everyday." He looked to the floor.
* Tonight is the night of our lives, de fruta la vida that's right.
One hundred degrees and we turn up the heat one more time, for the summer of love. *"Um, okay. That sounded freaky. But you know what mean, well I hope you do, because, well, I, uh-"
"Xander, your babbling, badly." Willow said quickly wishing she hadn't actually spoke as it came out as a squeak, a very high-pitched squeak. She burst out laughing at the sound of it, and Xander just stared looking a little hurt. "I'm not laughing at you, Xand. Laughing at myself." She smiled.
"That's okay I'm being serious here." Willow nodded at him to show she knew, so he quickly got his last words out in something that resembled a sentence. "I'm saying, would you go on a date with me?"
* The night is when friends become lovers and people are lost in their dreams.
Tomorrow the spell may be broken so celebrate love and be free. *Willow knew she wouldn't be able to answer without loosing her cool, so she decided to answer in another way which would give a definite yes.
Slowly leaning forward on her tiptoes she kissed him softly on the lips, ending the kiss several moments later she whispered in his ear. "I'd do a lot more than that with you."
Xander's eyes widened as she stepped away from him, that was an interesting thought. Willow and him doing... well, it. He hadn't thought about that he'd been to preoccupied with what he was going to say to her.
* The rhythm of life beats within you don't try to resist when it calls.
Move closer to me feel the music, now nothing else matters at all. *"I love you." Xander replied a few minutes later after the shock of what she had said had sunk in. "I think I always have."
Willow also recovering from what she had said swallowed hard then wrapped her arms around him, resting her head on his shoulder as he held her back in return. "I love you, Xander." She said softly.
Again they swayed to the music surrounding them until Xander moved away, took her hand, and led her up a set of marble stairs on the side of the building. A warm breeze lightly blew against Willow's face just before they stepped into an upstairs room.
* The temperature's rising, you search the horizon, and there's not a cloud in the sky. *
Both sitting on the bed they moved into a passionate, fiery kiss, which grew with intensity with each passing second. Moving closer they slowly lay down. Willow opened her eyes to look at a very nervous Xander.
"Are you okay?" She asked softly sitting up in the center of the bed, Xander lay next to her and played with the ends of her hair. "Xander?"
He blinked with shock then looked at her. "I guess." He shrugged then sat up with her." I'm still processing what's going on here." Playing with one of the straps on her dress he slid it down her shoulder then kissed the base of her neck. "Processing complete." He muttered.
* So dance- it's the summer of love tonight the fiesta will come.
One hundred degrees in the shade of the trees one more time. *Willow turned slightly so her body was pressed against his, her back against his chest, as he continued his kisses across her shoulder he slid her other strap down. He then took the trail of kisses across her shoulder blades and onto her other shoulder.
Feeling her body tingling Willow turned completely so she was facing him, their eyes locked almost as if they were on opposite sides of a crowded room, a mesmerizing gaze full of want but importantly full of love.
They leant into another loving kiss, the one loving kiss that was going to be the beginning of their lives together. Xander wrapped his arms around Willow and pulled her closer, and before kissing her again he whispered into her ear. "Remember your not alone in this Will."
And those were the last words said for a while as love surrounded them both and they became one.
* Tonight is the night of our lives, de fruta la vida that's right.
One hundred degrees and we turn up the heat one more time, for the summer of love. ** * *
Willow's eyes drifted from her one true love and to the dark sky above them, the moon, silver and white, cast an eerie light upon them but still romantic in someway with the tiny twinkling stars filling the blackness.
Swaying once again to the music downstairs, they were in complete silence, nothing needed to be said the moment needed the silence of night and not too distant music.
The balcony was in darkness except for the light from the room onto it and the moon light, but that was nice. "I could stay here forever." Willow whispered as the music took her over and Xander wrapped his arms around her waist.
"I could too, it just feels right." Xander replied and slowly spun her to face him, with one hand around her waist and one hand in hers they danced.
* Now we dance in the moonlight and I see the love in your eyes.
Look to the stars, make a wish don't try to resist, it's the summer of love. *Edging closer they kissed, beneath them cheers exploded as the clock struck ten and fireworks filled the sky glittering and sparkling.
* Tonight is the night of our lives de fruta la vida that's right.
One hundred degrees and we turn up the heat one more time for the summer of love. *
